Norfolk - A funeral service was scheduled to be held Thursday, March 12, 3 p.m., 
at First Calvary Baptist Church for Mrs. Martha J. Brockett of 1240 Church 
street, who died Friday in a local hospital.

The Rev. Royal Edler, an associate minister at First Calvary, officiated.

A native of Littleton, NC, Mrs. Brockett was the wife of Alexander Brockett and 
a daughter of the late John McKiver and Mrs. Nancy Clark.

She had been employed by the Berkley Public Library for 20 years.

Mrs. Brockett was a member of the gospel choir at First Calvary, president of 
the Jackson H. Gospel Singers, and a member of Daughter of Elks, 1-A, Glorious 
Hope Tents No. 105.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Kerr 
of Philadelphia, and a grandson, James Kerr.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with B. F. King Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.

(NOTE: obituary listed name as Bertha, not Martha as shown on death certificate)
