Norfolk Landmark, July 23, 1907
The remains of John Lewis Brooke, formerly of this city, who died in Atlanta, 
Ga., after a protracted illness, arrived in Norfolk yesterday morning, and the 
funeral took place yesterday afternoon from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the 
Rev. E. P. Miller officiating.
The deceased is survived by three brothers and two sisters; Warner, Lena, 
Richard T. Brooke, of this city; Robert S. Brooke, of South Carolina; Mrs. J. 
C. Wise, of Warrenton, Va., and Mrs. A. P. Davies, of Gloucester.
The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, and the following were the pall bearers: 
H. T. Campbell, Inman H. Payne, James J. Moore, Victor Parks, J. B Morgan and 
R. C. Taylor, Jr.


Additional Comments:
Emilie, 1829-1890, wife of John Lewis Brooke, is buried in Richmondville, NY,
where he is also memorialized on her stone. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, 
Norfolk, VA.
