Virginian-Pilot August 3, 1962
BROOKE, JAMES VASS – At a local hospital, Wednesday, August 1st, 1962, at 4:30 
a.m., JAMES VASS BROOKE, husband of Mrs. Edith Shepherd Brooke, and son of the 
late William Throckmorton and Mrs. Mary Goode Brooke, in the 75th year of his age. 
Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Old St. Paul’s 
Episcopal Church for a funeral service THIS (Friday) at 12 o’clock noon. Friends 
of the family are invited to attend. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. Kindly omit 
flowers.
