Broome took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Freemason Street Baptist Church. The solemn services were conducted by the Rev. Dr. M.B. Wharton in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends of the deceased. About one hundred members of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, B.P.O. Elks, of which organization the deceased was a valued member, attended the obsequies and performed the funeral rites of the order of the grave. A number of beautiful floral tributes rested upon the casket. Among these tokens was a large pillow formed of white carnations, roses and calla lilies, upon which the motto of the Elks, “Brotherly Love” was inscribed in blue immortelles. The remains were interred in Elks Rest, Elmwood Cemetery.
