Simmons Brothers, 67, of the 400 block of Appomattox St., died Dec.27, 1998, in a local hospital. Born in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Ottis Simmons Sr. and the late Emma Simmons. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ottis Simmons Jr. Mrs. Brothers was a member of First Baptist Church-Berkley. She was also a member and past state president of Beulah Temple No. 4, I.B.P.O.E. of W. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Butler Brothers Sr.; four daughters, Brenda Yates, Iris Brothers, Estelle Brothers and Mildred White, all of Norfolk; four sons, Benjamin Brothers Jr., Jerry Brothers, Marvin Lee Brothers and Clifton Brothers, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Betty Summer of Norfolk and Ruth Powers of Bronx, N.Y.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of Norfolk; and one brother-in-law, Roland Brothers, also of Norfolk. A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church-Berkley by the Rev. William Tyree III. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Southside Chapel, Berkley Ave. The body will be in the church at 10 a.m. the day of the service.
