H. Brouellet Dies At Home After Illness Of Four Months P.H. Brouellet, a pioneer merchant and highly esteemed resident of Berkley, died yesterday morning at 3:10 o'clock at his residence, 609 Pearl street, after an illness of more than four months. A native of Lynchburg and a schoolmate and lifelong friend of Senator Carter Glass, Mr. Brouellet came to Berkley in 1882 on securing the news contract with the Norfolk-Elizabeth City Railroad Company, which later became the Norfolk Southern Railroad. In connection with the news business he opened the Atlantic book stores in Berkley and Norfolk, in which business he was engaged at the time of his death. Mr. Brouellet was one of the organizers of the Berkley Permanent Building and Loan Association, which he served as vice president with the late Marcellus Miller as president. Politically he was a staunch Democrat and served on practically every important delegation and committee elected by the Berkley people for a long term of years, being prominently associated with George W. Jones, at that time of this city, but later of New York. He served as registrar and judge of elections for a long term of years. Mr. Brouellet was a son of the late Paul and Mrs. Martha Ann Garnett Brouellet, but had lived in Norfolk for the last 45 years. He is survived by one brother, A. Brouellet; one sister, Mrs. W.W. Bradshaw, both of Norfolk; two nieces, Mrs. H.T. Parker and Miss Margaret Lee Goodwin; two nephews, T.K. and James P. Goodwin, all of Newport News. The body was taken to the funeral home of E. Lee Cox, 124 East Berkley avenue, from whence it will be taken to the First Christian Church, Berkley, this afternoon for funeral services at 4:30 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. John G. Truitt, pastor, and Rev. W.L. Murphy, pastor of Memorial M.E. Church. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. ************ BROUELLETT--At his residence, 609 Pearl street, Saturday morning, July 16, 1927, at 3:10 o'clock, PAUL HEABON BROUELLET, son of the late Paul and Martha Ann Garnett Brouellet. The body will be taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox, 124 East Berkley avenue, to the First Christian Church, Berkley for funeral services THIS (Sunday) AFTERNOON at 4:30 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery.
