Virginian-Pilot September 15, 1955

Carl McKinley Brown, 57, husband of Mrs. Marie Moore Brown and son of Alonzo and 
Mrs. Harriet Owens Brown, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 12:08 a.m. His 
wife and parents, all of Norfolk, are his only survivors. 
He was a native of Mathews County and had been a resident of Norfolk for 35 
years, residing at 2101 Pershing Avenue. For the past 10 years, he had owned and 
operated the C.M. Brown Oil Delivery Service.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow 
at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Carl McKinley Brown — Funeral services for Mr. Brown were conducted at the 
Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home yesterday at 11 a. m. by the Rev. P. Rowland Wagner, 
pastor of Central Baptist Church, and the Rev. Yancey C. Elliott, pastor of 
Ocean View Baptist Church. Pallbearers were William E. Owens, I. M. Wroten, I. 
K. Whitley, Michael Barberio, W. C. Odom, R. J. Richardson, M. M. Sutton and 
Myron C. White. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
