Virginian-Pilot August 11, 1967

John Bartholomew Brown, 70, of 1301 Creamer Road, retired from Merchants Bakery, 
Inc., died Thursday in a hospital.
He was the widower of Mrs. Eunice Hyslop Brown and a son of Bartholomew and Mrs. 
Ellen Sullivan Brown.
A native of Staunton, he lived here most of his life. He was a member of Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church and Norfolk Elks Lodge 38.
He was past national commander of the 29th Infantry Division Association. He was 
a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Patricia B. McBride of Norfolk and Mrs. Ellen 
B. DeBrito of Atlanta; a sister, Miss Aileen Brown of Roanoke; and three 
brothers, B.A. Brown of Waynesboro and R.F. Brown and T.P. Brown of Staunton.
The Office of the Dead will be recited in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight 
at 8:30. 
A funeral service will be held in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Saturday at 9:30 
a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

BROWN, JOHN BARTHOLOMEW - In a local hospital Thursday, JOHN BARTHOLOMEW BROWN, 
widower of Mrs. Eunice Hyslop Brown and son of the late Bartholomew and Mrs. 
Ellen Sullivan Brown, in the 71st year of his age.  The body will be taken from 
H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, to Holy Trinity Catholic Church for funeral 
services Saturday at 9:30 a.m.  Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery.
