Brown, an itinerant vendor of patent medicines, who reached Norfolk from the North some six weeks ago, and who boarded at the corner of Church and Bermuda Streets, died in his room on Friday afternoon from the effects of overheat and the too frequent use of intoxicating stimulants. It is said that he practiced the profession of medicine in a small way here, and was but little known in the community. On his person, after his death, were found letters and papers indicating that he either had relatives or friends in Baltimore. The deceased was about 54 years of age, and is said to have left a widow and one child, the whereabouts of whom is not known. Having no money or means at the time of his demise, the remains were buried by the city.
