She was born in Petersburg and had taught in Norfolk, North Carolina, and West Virginia. She served in the Domestic Peace Corps when she was 81. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include a brother, George Henry Brown Jr. of Norfolk; and nieces and nephews. The body was sent to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, for a funeral Sunday at 3 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Richard W. Lovingood. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
