Virginian-Pilot December 6, 1944
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Perry Brown, 82, widow of Harrison Brown, died at a local 
Nursing Home yesterday morning at 7:24 o’clock after an illness of six weeks. She 
was a native of Woodville, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 
60 years, residing at 712 Fairfax avenue. She was a member of Ghent Methodist 
Church. Surviving her are two sons, L. W. Brown, of Norfolk, and H. O. Brown, of 
Virginia Beach; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Cox Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 
3:30 o’clock. The Rev. Edward J. Rees, D.D., pastor of Ghent Methodist Church, 
will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
