Virginian-Pilot August 3, 1917
Mrs. Mary Virginia Brown, wife of Walter C. Brown, died at the residence, 1248 
Corprew avenue, at 8:45 o’clock yesterday morning. She was 65 years of age. Mrs. 
Brown had been ill a long time. She was born in Princess Anne county. She had been 
a resident of this city about 35 years and had a large circle of acquaintances 
here. She was a woman of excellent traits of character. Rev. A. L. Franklin, 
pastor of Brambleton avenue Methodist church, of which Mrs. Brown was a member, 
will conduct the funeral at 3:30 p.m. today, at the residence. Burial will be in 
Elmwood.
