Norfolk Journal and Guide, May 31,1975
Norfolk - Benjamin L. Brown of 870 B Ave., the husband of Mrs. Sarah Taylor 
Brown and a native of Whitakers, NC, died Tuesday, May 6, in a hospital.

He worked 25 years for the Freemason Street YWCA and retired.  He was a member 
of C. H. Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ.

Survivors also include a son, Ernest Brown of Portsmouth, and six grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Saturday, May 9 in C. H. Mason Memorial Church of God 
in Christ by the Rev. David Williams.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with 
Graves Funeral Home in charge.
