Oretha "Mrs. Pat" Brown, 84, of the 900 block of Virginia Beach Blvd., died Oct. 
8, 1998, in a local hospital.
Born in Franklin, VA, she was a member of Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ, 
Norfolk.
The widow of George Willie Brown, Sr., she is survived by three daughters, Geneva 
Elliot, Geraldine Whitfield and Rosa P. Brown; five sons, George Willie Brown, 
Jr., James L. Brown, Pastor Melvin G. Brown, Harrison C. Brown and Augusta Brown; 
22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host 
of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was predeceased by her 
parents, Lacinia Edwards and Charles Edwards.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at First Pentecostal 
United Holiness Church, 1434 Wilson Road, Norfolk, by Dr. A.R. Rouson, Sr.  Burial 
will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk.  The family will receive friends 
at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Southside Chapel, Berkley Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. 
Friday.  Family and friends will assemble at noon Saturday at 913 Virginia Beach 
Blvd., Norfolk, for the procession.
