A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Jimmie Brown and a daughter of the late Haywood and Mrs. Hattie Artis. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are three sons Charles Brown, Ralph Brown, and Vincent Brown of Norfolk; six daughters, Mrs. Bertha Hunt of Camden County, N.C., Mrs. Louise McCoy, Mrs. Lucille Cuffee, Mrs. Bernice Dillard, Mrs. Delores Judge, and Mrs. Gwendolyn Lovely of Norfolk; two brothers, Jesse Artis of Norfolk and Haywood Artis of Trenton, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Johnson and Mrs. Willie Mae Yancey of Norfolk; 38 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Graves Funeral Home. Additional Comments: NORFOLK - A funeral service for Mrs. Bertha Brown will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Graves Funeral Home in charge.
