The Virginian-Pilot, Sunday, March 9, 1975

NORFOLK - Mrs. Evelyn B. Brown, of 2939 E. Princess Anne Road died Saturday in a 
hospital.

She was the wife of James V. Brown, Sr, and was a native of Princess Anne County. 
She retired from the American Cigar Company after ten years, and was a member of 
St. Thomas A.M.E. Church.

Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth D. Harrey and Mrs. Shirley E. 
Lucas, both of Norfolk; two sons, Daniel L. Brown and James A. Brown Jr., both 
of Norfolk; three brothers, Warren W. Mitchell, Herbert A. Mitchell and Russell 
L. Mitchell, all of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral service in pending. Graves Funeral Home is in charge.

Additional Comments:
NORFOLK - A funeral service for Mrs. Evelyn Brown will be held Thursday at 2 
p.m. in St. Thomas AME Zion Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Graves 
Funeral Home has charge.
