Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, October 14, 1997
Elizabeth D. Brown, 77, of the 900 block of Johnstons Road, died Oct. 12, 1997,
in DePaul Medical Center.

Born in Gates County, N.C., she was the widow of Willie Brown, a housewife and a
member of St. John's AME Church, Bute St., Norfolk.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Stith of Norfolk; three sons, Willie O.
Brown of Norfolk, Anthony L. Brown of Norfolk, Ronald Tatum of Maryland; a
sister, Willie Mae Spruill of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Junius Stith III of
Norfolk, Tiffany Tatum of Maryland; a great-grandchild, Jahlil Bagby of Norfolk;
a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents,
Fannie Hinton Dozier and John Dozier.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in St. John's AME Church, Bute St.,
by Dr. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Viewing will
be from at 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at 904
Johnstons Road at 11 a.m. Thursday for the procession to the church. Serenity
Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
