Norfolk Virginian November 1, 1887

BROWN - At the Purcell House, Sunday, October 30th, 1887, in the 71st year of 
his age, AZEL B. BROWN, formerly of New York City.
Funeral TUESDAY MORNING, November 1st, at 11 o'clock.

The funeral of Mr. Azel B. Brown, one of the proprietors of the Purcell House, 
took place from that hotel yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. George D. 
Armstrong, D.D., conducting the services, after which the remains were borne to 
Elmwood Cemetery and placed in a vault, to be removed at a future day for 
interment.  The casket was borne to the hearse by six waiters in the hotel.
