On Sept. 25, 2000 our family circle was broken again. Our beloved brother, father, 
grandfather and great-grandfather, Daniel A. Brown, of the 1600 block of Landworth 
St., entered the kingdom of heaven. He was in his 77th year. He was predeceased by 
his wife of 44 years, Louise S. Brown and his beloved grandson, Christopher W. 
Davis. He was the son of the late Margaret Burke Lawrence and Daniel A. Brown.

Born in Charleston, S.C., on Feb. 10, 1923, he was retired from the U.S. Navy and 
the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary's 
Catholic Church and its Usher Board. He was also a member of the Knights of 
Columbus Council No. 367, Father M.J. O'Keefe Assembly.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Jacquetta M. Duncan of Charleston, 
S.C., and Shelia B. Davis of Virginia Beach; five sons, Daniel A. Brown , Clifford 
S. Brown and wife, Valencia, Tyrone L. Brown and wife, Cecilia, of Chesapeake, 
Danlano and David Brown of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Olivia Pitts of 
Portsmouth, Stella Waddell of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ann Jenkins of Bronx, N.Y.; an 
aunt, Lottie Belardo of Norfolk; Edmund Burke of Florida; and a host of other 
relatives and friends.

He will be greatly missed. We love you Pops!

A Christian wake service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Basilica of St. 
Mary's Catholic Church. A funeral will be held at noon Friday at the church with 
Father Brian M. Rafferty as celebrant. The family will assemble at 11 a. m. at 
5417 Albright Drive for the procession.
