Brown, died Friday in a hospital. She was a daughter of Ruth M. Hitchman. She had retired after 23 years as supervisor of housekeeping at De Paul Hospital and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a lay minister of the eucharist and was a member of Catholic Daughters of the American Holy Spirit and Androgynous Chapter 215, Order of the Eastern Star. Other survivors include two daughters, Shelia B. Davis of Virginia Beach and Jacquette Duncan of Charleston, S.C.; three sons, Daniel A. Brown, Clifford S. Brown and Tyrone L. Brown, all of Chesapeake; a sister, Hattie S. Thornton, and a brother, Robert S. Hitchman, both of Chesapeake; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas J. Ouinlan. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum. A Christian wake will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the restoration fund at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
