BROWN, JULIA ANTHONY - At a local hospital, Wednesday, May 20th, 1942, at 2 
o'clock p.m., JULIA ANTHONY, widow of Clyde Everett Brown  and daughter of the 
late Frank and Mary Jane Backus Anthony, in the 76th year of her age. Services 
at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, No. 1501 Colonial Avenue, 
FRIDAY AFTERNOON at 1 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. 
Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Julia Anthony Brown, aged 75, widow of Clyde Everett Brown and daughter of 
the late Frank and Mrs. Mary Jane Backus Anthony, died at a local hospital 
yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Brown was a native of Jackson, Mich. and 
a resident of Norfolk for the past 39 years, residing at 703 Fairfax Avenue at 
the time of her death. She is survived by a son, Edgar L. Brown, of Greensboro, 
N.C.; a daughter, Miss Mary W. Brown, of Norfolk; a grandson, Edgar L. Brown, 
Jr., of Norfolk; two great grandsons; two sisters, Miss Emily B. Anthony, of 
Tarrytown, N.Y. and Mrs. Helen A. Rees, of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and a 
brother, Charles L. Anthony, of Jackson, Mich. Funeral services will be held at 
the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, ,Friday 
afternoon at 1 o'clock, with the Rev. Charles P. Upson, curate of Christ and St. 
Luke's Church, of which Mrs. Brown was a member, officiating. Interment will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
