The funeral service of Mrs. Mary E. Carter Brown, who passed away at her home, 
2520 Elm Avenue, after a lingering illness, was held at Prince of Peace Holiness 
Church, Brighton, Wednesday, January 4. The pastor, the Rev. S. M. Mackey, was 
assisted by the Revs. S. L. Parker and S. Lathan, who spoke of her faithfulness in 
her church work and community. Mrs. Estelle Gowdy, Mrs. Marl Reid, and Mrs. 
Alpenny Burrus rendered solos during the service. Interment was in Mount Olive 
Cemetery.
