Norfolk Ledger Dispatch March 25, 1930

William Amos Brown, 76, who was stricken with paralysis Monday morning at his 
home, 132 East Berkley Avenue, died this morning at 12:35 o'clock, the son of 
the late Amos and Mrs. Sarah Frances Murden Brown.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. R.V. Hugo, Mrs. J.E. Roberts, Mrs. F.R. 
Walker and Miss M.E. Brown, of Norfolk, Mrs. T.W. Upton, of Raleigh, N.C.; one 
son, F.M. Brown, of Norfolk, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was born in Portsmouth and all of his long life was spent in this section. He 
had been a resident of Berkley 53 years and was the last of the charter members 
of Chesapeake Tribe, No. 50, I.O.R.M and an active member of Armstrong 
Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be conducted tomorrow at 4 p.m. from Armstrong Presbyterian 
Church and the burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
