Brown-Boone, died Saturday, March 16, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a retired clerk for the Norfolk Naval Air Station, where she had worked for 30 years. She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of the late Ethel Herring Henderson Briggs and Luther B. Henderson. She was the widow of Isaac J. Boone and a member of Union United Church of Christ. Mrs. Boone's love was music, and she was an accomplished organist. She had been the organist for Union United Church of Christ and First Church of Christ Holiness, USA, and for more than 20 years, she was the organist for Riddick Funeral Service. Mrs. Brown-Boone was a proud lady of character and principle. She was well respected by her neighbors, fellow church members, and friends. She is survived by a grandson, Thomas James Brown; and her daughter-in-law, Ruthie Benyard Brown. A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at Union United Church of Christ. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and at other times at 3329 Sir Meliot Drive, Chesapeake.
