Mr. Browne was connected with the Seaboard Air Line Railway and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Elsie Dalton Browne, he is survived by one son, John Joseph Browne, Jr. and two sisters, Mrs. P. J. Lyons and Mrs. George J. Shaw. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Norfolk Virginian-Pilot May 27, 1936 ***************************************************************************** John Joseph Browne - Funeral services for Mr. Browne, whose death occurred Tuesday morning at the residence, 3 Killarney Apartments, 720 Redgate Avenue, were held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul V. Heller, officiating. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. T. E. Waters, the Rev. E. A. Brosnan and the Rev. P. P. Brennan were present in the sanctuary. During the service, Mrs. Stark A. Sutton sang, "Abide With Me", with Prof. J. Harvey Stevens, accompanist. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of Easter lilies, pink roses and fern. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The pallbearers were Thomas F. Curran, Jeremiah A. Kennedy, Robert Walker, R. V. Smith, Leigh Watts, Robert Irwin, James Gallagher and John E. Milan.
