Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch August 4, 1914
Samuel C. Browne died last night, at his home, 345 Duke street, after a protracted 
illness, aged 58 years. He was a native of Norfolk county, but had lived in 
Norfolk city for over 50 years, being well known and highly esteemed. He was 
unmarried and leaves three sisters, Misses Margaret F. Mary L., and Rosa M. 
Browne, all of Norfolk. He was a member of the fraternities of Eagles and Owls. 
The funeral occurs at 4 p.m. tomorrow, at the residence. Interment private in 
Elmwood cemetery. He was a son of the late Dr. Samuel J. and Mary Lamb Browne.
