The Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 24, 1943
Mrs. Jane E. Browne, 97, widow of Victor H. Browne and daughter of the late 
W.H.C. and Mrs. Jane Claiborne Lovitt, a native of Princess Anne County, and a 
lifelong resident of this section, died at the residence, 7 Boissevain 
Apartments, 520 Boissevain avenue, last night at 10 o'clock.
She is survived by a daughter, Miss Lucy Browne, of Norfolk; a grandson, Victor 
H. Browne, of Suffolk; a niece, Miss Jane Lovitt, of Norfolk, and a nephew, 
John H. Lovitt, of Dinwiddie County.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, rector 
of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, of which Mrs. Browne was a member, officiating. 
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
