Her death followed an illness of six months. Miss Brownley, a descendant of one of Virginia's oldest families, was the daughter of the Rev. William Marshall Brownley and Mrs. Lucy Ann Digges Brownley, of Mathews County. The youngest of six children, she was the last surviving member of the family. Her ancestor, Archibald Bromley, settled in Mathew's County in 1678. The Rev. William Brownley, her father, was County Commissioner of Revenue and a minister in the Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the First Methodist Church, having joined the old Cumberland Street Methodist Church in 1882. For the past 10 years she has been living with her nieces. Surviving are four other nieces, Mrs. Paul Richardson, of Park Hill Estates, Md.; Mrs. W. O. Breeden, Mrs. Wharton H. Holland and Mrs. Howard Benton, all of Norfolk; two nephews, Wilbur T. Brownley and John M. Brownley, of Norfolk; six great-nieces and five great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Henry A. Harrell, pastor of the First Methodist Church, at the Cox Funeral Home tomorrow at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
