Mr. Brummett was noted as a traveler, making his last long trip, a 68,984-mile tour of the United States, after his home here burned in June, 1927. With Mrs. Brummett, he started out in a touring car with a trailer to see the United States. They wore out this combination and in Denver, Col., had another constructed especially for such a trip as they were making; a car described as a "two-room traveling bungalow." In this they finished the trip which took them into all the 48 States. Mr. Brummett, a resident of Norfolk for many years, was formerly sales manager for J. D. Stone, of this city, retiring from active business shortly before he began his trip in 1927.
