Jane was a graduate of Holy Trinity Catholic School, Brewbaker Academy, and Kee Business College. She also studied music at Virginia Wesleyan College and at Old Dominion University, and she was an active member of the Tidewater Musical Theater. Jane was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Norfolk, and was part of the young adult and music ministry there. She apprenticed under her father and worked as a steel-fabrication estimator. Jane was a fervent sports fan, especially of Duke University men’s basketball, the Washington Redskins, and the Atlanta Braves. Jane was predeceased by her father, John J. Bruns, and her brother, Dr. John Bruns Jr., MD, MPH. She is survived by her mother, Joanne J. Bruns, of Norfolk; her sister, Elizabeth A. Bruns, of Norfolk; her sister-in-law, Sandra Ballew Bruns, and nephew, Nicholas S. Bruns, both of Livermore, CA; an aunt, Merle Bruns, of Chesapeake; and many cousins. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. James Glass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Norfolk, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, followed by a graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk. A reception will follow. Donations may be made in Jane’s memory to the Norfolk SPCA or to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.
