Virginian-Pilot May 23, 1899
Mattie Virginia Bryan, the interesting 2˝-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James 
Bryan, of Front street, Atlantic City Ward, who was so terribly burned at her home 
Saturday night, died from her injuries at 8 o’clock Sunday morning. The funeral 
took place at 11 o’clock yesterday morning from the residence of her aunt, Mrs. 
James E. Belote, on Bank street, and was conducted by Rev. Father T. J. Wilson, of 
the Church of the Sacred Heart. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
