The Norfolk Virginian Pilot Thursday Jan. 20, 1944

Mrs. Gertrude Churchill Buchanan, 71, wife of Charles Eugene Buchanan, died at 
the residence, 918 West Forty-Ninth Street, Tuesday night at 12 o'clock. 
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J. Leonard Storey, of 
Norfolk; six sons, Edward J. and Charles E. Buchanan, Jr., both of Norfolk; 
Lee E. Buchanan, USN; Lloyd A Buchanan, of Williamsburg. Emmett D. Buchanan, 
USA, and Doyle C. Buchanan, USCG; two stepsons, William H. Buchanan, of 
Baltimore, and Herbert M. Buchanan, of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren and 
several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Buchanan was a native of Pennsylvania and 
had been a resident of Norfolk 60 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home this 
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
