Born in Norfolk on August 9, 1927, he was the son of Nathan Hollister Bundy and Susan Little Bundy. Nat attended Norfolk public schools, the Norfolk Academy, and graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria in 1944. He entered Yale University at the age of 16. After a year off for Navy duty, he returned to Yale and graduated in 1949. At Yale he was a member of St. Anthony Fraternity and the Torch Honor Society. As a member of the track team, he ran the sprint and set a record of 24 feet in the broad jump. Upon returning to Norfolk, he joined his father in the family business, Dalton- Bundy Lumber Company, later Randolph-Bundy, and retired as President in 2001. Nat was past president of the Virginia Symphony and served on the board the Virginia Science Museum and Virginia Wesleyan University. He was a member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and Past President of the Virginia Club. Nat belonged to First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Mary McGeorge Bundy Etheredge, Anne Bundy Lewis, and his daughter, Anne Bundy Estes. He leaves to cherish his memory Marie Ironmonger Bundy, his wife of 71 years, daughters Susan Bundy Etheridge (Andre) and Marie Bundy Estabrook (Randy), grandchildren Brooke Estes (Frank Burkybile) and Nathan Estes, and son-in-law Mark Estes. Also surviving are cherished nieces and nephews, Anne McIver, Harriet Arnold, Ellen Thurman, James Lewis, David Greer, Jane Cole and Sara Martin. The family would like to thank the staff of Cavero Cares and Freda Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care for their care and attention to Nat during his illness.
