The Virginian Pilot Friday January 22, 1960
Joseph Burfort, 58, 517 Louise St., died Monday at 7:35 p.m. in a Norfolk 
hospital after a short illness.  
He was a son of the late March and Mrs. Alice King Burfort.  He was the husband 
of the late Mrs. Elsie Burfort.
He was a native of Camden County, N.C., and had lived in Norfolk over 40 years.
He was employed by Tidewater Construction Co. for 20 years, and was a member of 
the Carpenters' Local 567.
He is survived by one son, John Wesley Burfort of Baltimore, Md.; two 
daughters, Mrs. Helen Coates and Miss Martha Burfort, also of Baltimore, and 
one sister, Mrs. Lillian Grimstead of Seatack.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Chapman Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. 
by the Rev. Noel C. Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Berkley.  
Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
