The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark May 27, 1927
George W. Burger, aged 75, died at his residence, 716 North Park Avenue, 
yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o’clock after a long illness. He was a son of 
the late Henry and Annie Burger and husband of Mrs. Victoria Burger. Mr. 
Burger had been a resident of Norfolk for 38 years, being employed by J.S. 
Bell & Son, R.M. Eastwood & Co. and Thomas Starkey, and also conducted a 
meat business for a number of years on Commercial Place. Funeral services 
will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 1 o’clock from the funeral home of 
James V. Derry, 346 W. Princess Anne Road, corner Moran Avenue. The Rev. 
S.A. Donahoe, of Brambleton Avenue M.E. Church and Rev. L.W. Strickler, of 
the First Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
