Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch February 21, 1919
Mrs. Euphemia Burgess, widow of Augustus Burgess, died at a local hospital 
yesterday, aged 69 years. She was a native of North Carolina and had lived in 
Norfolk forty years. She is survived by a granddaughter, Mrs. Gordon C. Bailey, 
and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal church, 
where the funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment in 
Elmwood. Rev. E. P. Miner will officiate.
