Carolyn Burgunder, 75, passed away peacefully at Sentara Hospice House in Virginia 
Beach, VA on August 31, 2018. The second child of Frank and Mary Kotwa, Carolyn 
was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Richard. She is survived 
by her daughters, Nancy Floyd (Paul) of Aiken, SC, Kelly Bartlett (Kevin) of 
Ardmore, TN, and Tammy Burgunder of Virginia Beach, along with her sister, Marilou 
Schindler (Fritz); and grandchildren, Patrick Beck, Jordan and Alex Burgunder, and 
Shanleagh and Ashleagh Bartlett; seven nephews and one niece; numerous great-
nieces and great-nephews; and her ex-husband, Gerald Burgunder.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at Holy 
Spirit Catholic Church on Lynnhaven Parkway in Virginia Beach. A celebration of 
life reception will follow. Her ashes will be interred in the columbarium at St. 
Mary's Cemetery in Norfolk privately.
