Burk died at the home of his son-in-law, T. J. Carey, 1 Grigsby Place at 10:40 o’clock Tuesday night after a lingering illness, in the 77th year of his age. The deceased was born in Hesse, Darmstadt, Germany, but came to America in early life and had been a resident of Norfolk for 50 years where he was widely known and highly esteemed. In former years he conducted very successfully on Main street, but of late had led a rather retired life. He is survived by three children, viz: W. H. Burk, Mrs. W. T. Hyslop and Mrs. T. J. Carey of Norfolk, and two sisters who reside in Carson City, Nevada. The deceased was a prominent member of the First Lutheran church, Norfolk, from which his funeral will be held Friday.
