In Elmwood cemetery, Norfolk, beautiful resting place for the dead, this morning repose the remains of Peter Burke, a man who has acquired more fame by his habits than any other resident of this city. During his life Burke had but one habit—he drank—and this proved his ruin and sealed his doom, for he passed away at the City Almshouse and his body was buried by the authorities, there being no one to claim his remains. In faraway Ireland, the dead man has friends, perhaps a mother, but she does not know of his death, for during the time he has resided in this city, Burke had never spoken of his relatives, neither has he referred to his friends in faraway Britain, if he has any.
