Burke , 73, of the 8100 block of Baywood Drive, died July 28, 2001, in a local hospital. Born in Kearny, N.J., he retired as a chief petty officer boatswain mate and first class deep sea diver from the U.S. Navy. Mr. Burke later retired from Ceres Marine Terminals Inc. as a cargo superintendent. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 60. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Julia Sheila Burke; four daughters, Patricia Thorsen and husband, Mark, Jean Burke of Chesapeake, Kerry McCauley and husband, Glenn, of Chesapeake, Ann Ripley, and husband, Scott,, of Virginia Beach; a son, Sean Burke of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Patricia Frazier of New Jersey and Margaret Lynch of Florida; four brothers, Joe, Bill, Eddy and Kevin Burke, all of New Jersey; and two grandchildren, Ryan Howlett and Jessica Thorsen. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by Father R. Francis Muench. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
