Mr. Burks, a native of Bluefield, W.Va., had retired from AT & T after 33 years. He was a Baptist and a Mason. He was a member of Eureka Excelsior Band and Telphone Pioneers of America. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Burks; two daughters, Angela D. Burks of Richmond and Pamela Rose of California; his mother, Catherine Ragedale of Norfolk; and three grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hale Funeral Home by the Rev. J.L. Kearney Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may join the family at the residence.
