Norfolk Virginian June 19, 1891
The remains of Mr. John C. C. Burnett, who died from pneumonia Tuesday morning in 
Washington, D.C., arrived here yesterday morning from that city and the funeral 
took place from the wharf of the steamer, at Town Point. The remains were interred 
in Elmwood Cemetery, Rev. Arthur S. Lloyd, rector of St. Luke’s P. E. Church, 
officiating at the grave. The following were the pallbearers: Lieut. H. H. 
Barroll, U.S.N.; Paymaster D. A Smith, U.S.N.; Past Assistant Engineer R. W. Galt, 
U.S.N.; H. C. Whitehead, Harry S. Herman and Henry Dodge.
