Funeral services were recently held at St. Mark Christian church for Obey
Burrell, 67, who died at his home, 817 Smith street.  The Rev. Zack T. Pippin,
pastor, officiated.

Mr. Burrell, a longshoreman, was a member of St. Mark’s Community Church and was
the son of Albert and Mrs. Minnie Burrell.  He had lived in Norfolk for 65 years
and was a native of Emporia.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Burrell;  a stepson, Moses
Burrell of Richmond;  three sisters, Mrs. Penny Smith of Norfolk;  and Mrs.
Elnora Clarke and Mrs. Pearl Latta of Richmond;  three brothers, Jim and Richard
Burrell of Emporia and Wade Burrell of Montclair, NJ.

Hale Funeral Home was in charge of interment in Calvary Cemetery.
