NORFOLK - George Burrus Sr. of 1724 Willoughby Ave. died Sunday in his home.

A native of Fairfield, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Lillie Burrus and a son of
the late George B. and Mrs. Anna Murray Burrus.

He was a retired janitor with 18 years of service at Ruffner Junior High School.

Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, George Burrus Jr. and Booker T. Burrus of
Norfolk; four brothers, Charles Murray of Norfolk, Lawrence Murray of Washington,
Andrew Burrus of New York, and Arnell Burrus of Chesapeake; a sister, Mrs. Estelle
Manor of Washington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in Hale Funeral Home by the
Rev. J. L. Kearney. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
