A native of Norfolk and the daughter of the late Charles and Cornelia Burton, the deceased until recently had been a cook at the Navy YMCA for 17 years. She had held a long membership in New Calvary Church. At the final rites Elder S. A. Wilson officiated, assisted by the Rev. Vannie Parker. Elder Wilson and Mrs. Lottie Scott rendered solos for the occasion. Pallbearers were: Richard Whitehurst, Percy Lemby, Herbert Bass, Eddie Epps, William Keeling and Caulbert Davis. The immediate survivors include Mrs. Maria Burton, grandmother; two aunts, Madams Sudie Wright and Nellie Walton; three sisters, Madams Eleanor Fitzgerald and Nellie Rhodes of Philadelphia, PA; and Mrs. Mary Parks, Norfolk; four brothers, Robert, Samuel, Linwood and Willie and several other relatives. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Riddick Funeral Home was in charge.
