NORFOLK — Miss Bernice Julia Butler, of 1126 Westover Ave., died Friday in a 
hospital.

A native of Spokane, Wash., she was a daughter of Col. Millard A. and Mrs. Helen 
Browne Butler.

A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was retired from the Postal Service.

Besides her mother, surviving are three sisters, Miss Beatrice L. Butler of 
Norfolk, Mrs. Helen Butler Baillio of Virginia Beach and Mrs. Mary Butler 
Bottenberg of Redlands, Calif.

A requiem mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Monday at 11 
a.m. by the Rev. Raymond Barton.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A rosary service will be held in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, tonight 
at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to the American 
Cancer Society.
