A native of Norfolk, Mr. Butler was born in 1913 to the late Ernest Randolph Butler and Daisy Mae Butler. Mr. Butler was a member of the Christian Temple United Church of Christ in Norfolk. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lenora Winfield Butler and son, Jonathan Butler. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Rosenthal of Delaware; sisters, Margaret Land and Palmer Lee Watson; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral service at noon Tuesday in P.G. Thomasson Funeral Services, 4456 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Thomas J. Hart. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk.
