Virginian-Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark November 25, 1932

Mrs. Ellen Carty Butt, 66, wife of Willoughby J. Butt and daughter of the late 
John and Mary Cotton Carty, died at 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the 
residence, 1307 Cornwall Place, Larchmont. She was a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk. Besides her husband, Willoughby J. Butt, she is survived by 
two sons, Ernest V. Butt and Willoughby J. Butt, Jr.; five grandchildren, Ellen, 
Mary Louise, Virginia, Ernest Jr. and J. Willoughby Butt; two sisters, Mrs. 
Agnes Carty Geermann and Miss F. Grace Carty; two brothers, Joseph J. and 
Lawrence F. Carty; three nephews and one niece. Mrs. Butt was a member of the 
Sodality of the Blessed Virgin, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Funeral 
services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 
10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery
