Norfolk Landmark July 1, 1891
Intelligence was received here yesterday of the death in New York the day before, 
at the residence of her son, Mr. J. M. Butt, Jr., of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth, widow of 
the late James M. Butt, of this city. Mrs. Butt was well known in this city and 
very popular in a large circle. She leaves two children, Mr. James M. Butt, Jr., 
now living in New York, and Mrs. W. W. Galt, of this city. The funeral will take 
place this morning from the wharf of the New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk 
railroad upon the arrival of the steamer.
