She was born June 22, 1931, in Norfolk as the only child of the late N. Coleman and Bernice Williamson Butt, and had lived most of her life in South Norfolk, graduating from South Norfolk High School in 1949. She was a lifetime m member of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church, where she had held n numerous positions and for many years worked with the youth and kept the n nursery for Sunday School until becoming a member of the Cameron White Bible C Class. Miss Butt retired as a supervisor from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center in 1986 after 31 years of service and then served as a pre-school teacher at the Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church until early 2003. One of her most enjoyable activities was playing bridge with her friends and co-members of the C Chesapeake Newcomers Club. Surviving are a nephew: Rev. John LeGault of Newport News, VA, several cousins a and a host of dear friends whom she loved as family and whose care enabled her t to spend her last days at her home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. at the Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist with Dr. Louis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel on Tuesday from 7 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1200 Chesapeake Ave, Chesapeake, VA 23324.
